Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Visions of Springtime Dancing in my Head

Gerri and I woke up this morning to a chilly 19 degrees and a wind chill in the low single digits.  We also had about 2 inches of snow on the ground and roads.  Under the snow is a sheet of black ice which is very deceiving. Now for those up north, that is just a mere dusting, but for the south and Auburn , Alabama, that is a once in a blue moon snow.  It is beautiful and the woods with snow looks awesome, but it is cold.

As I think about this winter, I find myself wishing spring was already here.  I copied some pics of spring here in the south and thought I would share in hopes that it may warm us up a bit.

  1. We know what you mean about wishing spring were here. Are kids back home in Ontario are still digging out after repeated snowfalls. They also will see temps climb above freezing later this week.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. Very rarely does the south get such a pretty snow, it is kind of a mixed blessing. However, we have become very ready for spring weather.
      Thanks for your comments.

  2. I've been thinking about you guys and wondering how you were managing in the not-quite-far-enough-south location where you're wintering. Your photos are beautiful, the wintry ones as well as the spring ones, although I do prefer the gorgeous colors of spring.

    1. Thanks for your thoughts Linda. We are staying warm and making the best of the situation and the snow itself is beautiful as it flows through the woods undisturbed by mankind. We just got through making some snow cream and enjoying that. Hope you are doing well.

  3. That snow doesn't look that dangerous to me, but ice underneath it would make it treacherous. After a long cold winter,I can't wait for spring to come.It will be several months up hereinbefore we see green growth.

    1. The snow itself is not the dangerous part as you know. Underneath the snow is a sheet of ice albeit a lot has melted off the roads but where the sun has not touched the back roads, it is a solid sheet of ice/snow and packed quite hard. Up north is pretty, but i prefer the temps of the south...most of the time.
Ruth, thank you for your comments.

    1. This has truly been a crazy/cold/snowy winter. The snow is gorgeous, but after a bit I really don't enjoy the damp cold as it goes to my bones.
Spring is such a beautiful time of year as all of nature comes to life and the flowers and trees bud out some beautiful colors. Life renews itself in the springtime and reminds us that each day is a new beginning to life.
Take care and let that huge warm up hurry up and get here.

  6. Are you two the only ones in the park? The snow photos are beautiful but wish you didn't have to take them.
Thanks for the uplifting Spring photos. We heard on the morning weather that every...that is all 50 states...have snow. A bit depressing to say the least. Sending you warm thoughts.

    1. There about 4 other rv's in the campground plus the host. I don't think anyone has eluded the snow this winter, but spring is coming and with that a burst of God's creation coming to life.
      Thanks for your comments.

Hope all is well for you and your family.

    1. It has been quite cold for mid Alabama, but spring is not too far off and with that comes new life in nature. It is awesome seeing the seasonal transitions that God has set in motion.
      You guys take care!
