Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Join us as this blog is about stopping to see the real beauty around us...to touch and feel it... "Through the Lens".

The Fun Continues

The fun of Mardi Gras continued at Rainbow Plantation but so did the eating!!!

Don and Gloria Martin invited us over to their motorhome to enjoy an evening of fun, food and fellowship!!  Gloria prepared a delicious meal of sloppy joes, fruit and coleslaw followed by a yummy dessert!!  The meal was wonderful and being with good friends....awesome!!!   It is always fun to hear full-timers talk about their travels and escapades!!!

Tuesday evening marked the end of what is known as Fat Tuesday and the Mardi Gras festivities!  We met at the clubhouse for dinner....yes, more eating!!

At the conclusion of supper there were skits conducted by various Escapees but the main event was the bidding adieu to the king and queen which marks the end of Mardi Gras for 2018!! Mike and Peggy Evringham were the lucky draw for having the Wiz to travel with them for the whole year until Mardi Gras 2019.

The Wiz is hand carved out of Cypress Knees and is to be carried around wherever you travel and pictures taken of where he is.  It has been a lot of fun!!

At the conclusion everyone stood and sang "Let There Be Peace On Earth."
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.

With God our Creator
We are family
Let us walk with each other
In perfect harmony

Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now
With every step I take
Let this be my solemn vow

To take each moment and live each moment
In peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.

Wednesday was Valentine's Day and Mike wanted to take me out for lunch.  So we invited our friends, Mike and Peggy and we all headed for Jesse's in Magnolia Springs.  Being Valentine's Day there was a bit of a wait but it was so worth it once the food was served.  Yes, we are eating again!!  After lunch Mike Evringham decided to take us to a really unique candy kitchen!!

Punta Clara Kitchen is located in Point Clear, Alabama in a lovely old home which not only is the place for wonderful yummy chocolates and candy but also antiques.  Punta Clara Kitchen has been serving this area for over 65 years.  They make gourmet preserves, jams and jellies, fruit cake and traditional pecan candies and fudge!!  You can walk around and sample many of their specialties....that was the best part!!
This amazing place has been visited by non other than Guy Fieri from Food Network.  He dropped by and assisted in making some of the candies.  He even brought his sons, Hunter and Ryder and were featured on Guy's Family Road Trip.   If you are ever in the area it is well worth a stop, sample and purchase!!!

We will remain at Rainbow Plantation for a few more days so the fun is not totally over yet...nor is the eating!!

  1. The Wiz is a hoot. What a fun event.
"Let There Be Peace On Earth" should be our national anthem. Beautiful and so true!

  2. You and your fellow RVers seem to really enjoy one another, and there are plenty of places nearby to allow you to continue the fun outside of the RV park. The candy shop would attract me and my sweet tooth, for sure.
