The granite has arrived! The house that we recently purchased was in excellent condition for a fifty year old house. We love older houses….so full of character and this one did not let us down. The kitchen had been updated several years ago with new cabinets and countertops.
The laminate countertops were getting old, stained and a bit tired so we decided to update with granite and add a tumbled marble backsplash which will be installed Saturday. We will have the under mount sink and new faucet. Along with that we have bought new appliances. This should complete the kitchen update for us.
The painting is going well. Its funny you don’t notice how much a room needs painting until all the furniture has been removed. We discovered that every room needs painting. Mike loves painting…..isn’t that nice??? We have only one room left plus the kitchen and mud room to finish painting. The best part of the new house is the sunroom and back yard. We sit up a bit so that makes for some beautiful sunrise photos. The birds are really loving our pole feeding systems and we are loving them.
With all the unpacking, painting and bird watching we have decided it is time for a road trip. We are planning to take a few days off early in February and head down to visit with our friends at Rainbow Plantation. We are trying to coordinate the trip with the arrival of Mike and Peggy Evringham and possibly Gene and Judi Curp. Hopefully we can pull that off. Even with a sticks and bricks we love to travel and plan on continuing with our trips.
"Things turn out best for those who make the best of the way things turn out."
Jack Buck
I do have to remember that quote. I try to "make the best of things" some of the time, but often lately I have chosen not to "settle" for status quo.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of the back view.

ReplyDeleteGreat looking granite counter tops!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy to hear that you will still be able to get out and take some RV trips. But, oh my, your new kitchen looks fabulous. After 1 1/2 years of living in your motorhome, it must feel so spacious to be be back in a house. I like your cabinets and your granite. Kitchens have really come a long way since the days when they all had formica. We did the same in our house, and six years later we are still enjoying the granite and new appliances!
ReplyDeleteLove the pictures of your kitchen remodel!! :) Ours is slated to start next week!
ReplyDeleteI am also glad to see you back blogging again - missed hearing about what you were up to. LOL

YAY!!! We SO want you here with us! :) Don't know when you plan to be here, but Mardi Gras is late this year - first week of March. You probably don't want to wait that long, but thought I'd let you know.
ReplyDeleteRenovations are looking good. So happy for you guys.
Hugs to you both.
The granite kitchen counter top is a winner. Good to hear you are going to make a little trip. We look forward to our trip toCanton each month.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen will be fabulous. Have fun on your trip. It will be great to be around old friends.
ReplyDeleteWe love older houses too. Ours in NJ (which we are selling to my daughter) was built in 1850, making it 161. However, we both HATE to paint. That was always a job we hired out. Lucky for me, of the 4 NOMADS projects we've done, I've not had to paint yet. I know my day will come.
ReplyDeleteGreat looking counters!
Your updates to the kitchen look great, love the granite.
ReplyDeleteNice choices!
