Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Join us as this blog is about stopping to see the real beauty around us...to touch and feel it... "Through the Lens".

An Awesome Travel Day

Today we have a very short post just to share that we move sites.
Our old site
We have a new site!!  Since we are going to be here a couple months we decided to move over to loop 2 in our campground!  We prefer loop 1 but with winter upon us most campers are sent to loop 2 which leaves us pretty much alone!  Now that's not entirely a bad thing but it can get lonely after awhile.  So Sunday afternoon we noticed this awesome, huge site had been vacated so we packed up and made the ultimate roadtrip of 1 mile!!  A short and safe travel day!!
Our new site...notice how much more room we have
The good news is this loop is pretty vacant this time of year as well but our site sits back into the woods, like we like it!!  We are private and the campground hosts are just a few sites away!  They are a nice, fun couple that we've gotten to know!
The host site. Pic taken this summer.
So all is good!!

  1. Are the sites first-come-first-served? Does that mean you can hold it as long as you stay put? The spot looks beautiful, and you look quite "at home" sitting outside your Ollie.

    1. Thank you for your comments. At this park you can reserve a site, but you cannot reserve a particular site. We saw this site come open and realized it was much larger than the site we were on, we asked to change to that site. They had no problem with us moving sites, so that site is ours as long as we are here. It is a really large site and we have a fireplace area, a separate picnic space and space for our clam screen room and still have space on the back side of the rv. It is comfortable and we enjoy sitting out as weather permits.

  2. Wow---you all have a great set-up... That IS the way to camp.... Makes me wish we had an RV (little one like yours).... YEARS ago --before George-- my first husband and I would go camping in the Smokies -with our tent/tarp, etc.... I have some stories to tell of those camping experiences.... Sometime I'll share with you two.

Where is this campsite? Are you still near Auburn, AL???

    Hugs,
    Betsy

    1. We do have an awesome site and it has so much space for separation of fire pit, picnic area, clam screen room and just overall space. I bet you and your first husband truly enjoyed camping in the Smokies...it is so much fun and relaxation. I bet you have some great stories and Gerri and I would love to hear them someday...hopefully in 2018.
This campsite is in Chewacla State Park in Auburn.

    1. Yes, it is a very large site, probably the largest one we have ever had. We have a separate space for the fire pit, picnic area and clam screen room and still much space for our rv and walk around space.
      Take care and Merry Christmas!!

    1. It is a very large campsite and we are very much enjoying having the extra space as well as being backed into the woods. We even have some baby deer roaming the woods behind us.
