Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Oh Me of Little Faith

DSC03535 I am so ashamed!! All that worry for nothing. Our little campers were actually no problem at all. Well, there were a few things that could have been better but all in all things went well.

I think the biggest problem was the fact that this was a “group” and should have been sent to the group camp. There is a limit of 6 campers to our sites and when you do the math they had 12 and 13 to a site. When you enter in the factor that these were 12 and 13 middle school kids you equal lots of noise.

This noise congregated in the large area located behind our campsite and all the other folks camped in the inner area of section 1. Games were played such as football, tag, chase and horseshoes and along with those games comes laughter, hollering and loud noises. Kids will be kids and they shouldn’t be expected to be quiet all day long especially playing games. That is why a large group like this should have been camped in the group area.               DSC03537As a former teacher, I will say the adults had this group very well organized. They knew exactly what they were doing…keeping them organized and structured in an unstructured environment. Lights were out each evening by 9:00 and we never heard any noise after that.                                     DSC_3457 When they left Sunday morning they cleaned up their campsites and left them just as clean as they found them. The only thing we ended up having to pick up was a small water bottle left on one of the tables. I am impressed!! I’m glad they had this experience and I think they had a good time.

                   A NEW WORKER APPEARED TODAY!!

As Mike was busy checking sites this morning he looked down and discovered he had a helper. Yep…he had a new sidekick. DSC_3359A beautiful ribbon snake. I can’t tell you how happy I was that I chose to clean the motor home this morning. I just love domestic chores. :>)

Our backyard grew very large today!!! We are sharing this beautiful peaceful campground with our own gorgeous lake with two other campers. We have it to ourselves. Life is Good!!

Mike and I want to thank you for stopping by and reading our blog. We appreciate each of you and enjoy hearing from you.

  1. I would be very glad to be inside the motorhome doing housework rather than outside with the 'pretty ribbon snake?'..ewwwwwwwww

  2. I am so glad the munchkins were well behaved, yes, that speaks wonders for their leaders. Yes, I am with you about domestic work, I would NOT have liked that sidekick!

  3. "Snakes. Why does it always have to be snakes?" Harrison Ford, as Indiana Jones, said that and I totally agree! Yikes, I'm glad you were in the motorhome cleaning also.

Nice ending to the little campers story. Enjoy the week.

  4. So glad it all worked out so pleasantly! I'm surprised that they left the site so tidy and that you didn't have to clean up after them..at least you had a new helper! Those kids must have good parents! (We need more of that!)
Enjoy the peacefulness and beauty of the lake.
I love the pic of the cabin!

  7. I was happy to hear the camping kids were well behaved and had a lot of fun too. I always hate it when I hear folks getting down on little kids for just doing the same things we enjoyed doing when we were growing up. Your approach was refreshing and good to hear for a change.

Keep the snakes - hate 'em!!

  8. I agree with everyone else - do NOT like snakes. Other than a grass snake, I've never seen one in the "wild" and I would be most happy if I never did!

Glad your little next door neighbors were well-behaved and didn't drive you crazy all weekend! :)

  9. Glad you survived the onslaught of little humaniods. Sounds like things turned out pretty well after having thousands of them running all over the campground :-)

  10. I wondered why that many tents were set up at regular campsites and not in the group area. They probably would have been happier because they would have been able to be a little rowdier. Glad you got your peaceful campground back!

  12. I am glad to hear the kids turned out to be a credit to their parents and chaperones, When I took high school and college groups on the bus the majority of them would clean up after themselves and not leave a mess, again a testament to good upbringing. Now you may get a few days of solitude before the next rush. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.

  13. I think I'd rather be outside with the snake than doing house cleaning. :) (there's always one in the crowd:))

I always enjoyed Sunday afternoons when I was a campground host. The peace and quiet decends, and you give a great sigh of relief. :)

  15. I live in fear of snakes..I cannot even eat a meal if there is a snake on the TV in front of me..I get nauseated. I have a snakaphobis ( maybe that isn't quite right...I don't have a fear of SNACKS..)
Looks like things have cleared out...Time for a soothing evening by the campfire..that's what I'm thinkin'!

  16. I agree with Judy, I'd take the snake over the inside chores any day.

Sometimes it's good to hear the laughter of children.

  17. I'd rather wrangle a rattler than do house chores! Glad the kids weren't wild and wooley!

  19. What a nice outcome with the large groups of kids. Much better than hearing that they ruined the grounds, made tons of noise and were offensive. There is hope yet for the upcoming generations???

  21. The snake is beautiful but they do give me the creeps too! Having the right group leaders definitely makes a ton of difference when there are bunches of "little humanoids"(love that term). Glad it worked out well!
