Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Join us as this blog is about stopping to see the real beauty around us...to touch and feel it... "Through the Lens".

The Green Light

It's always good to get the green light!!!  I fondly refer to months like January as my medical marathon!!  Every Monday in January plus a Thursday was spent either at a doctor's office, lab or hospital.  Why you ask?  Twice a year I have to see my Oncologist as well as my PCP for blood work and a check up.  I'm proud to announce I only have to have a CT scan once a year now!!    Unfortunately for us, this fell in the cold cold month of January!!  The good news....all is clean and clear and no signs of cancer!!! Praise God!!!!   The blood work was great and the check up showed a terrible condition called "hitchitch" that the doctor could only prescribe one thing to cure.... a trip!!  I always follow my doctor's orders sooooooo.

YAY!!  Tomorrow, February 1st, we are heading to one of our most favorite places....gulf shores!!!

We will stay at the Rainbow Plantation which is an Escapees Park located in Summerdale, Alabama!!  I know it might not be quite warm enough but what the temperature doesn't give in numbers the people at Rainbow and this awesome place will!!  I think we'll definitely feel the warmth!!

Our Oliver through the woods on our site before we packed up
Our last night here we took a picture of the moon through the trees
This was our large site at Chewacla
We have spent the last couple days breaking camp.  It usually takes us a bit longer to put things up when we have been stationary for two and half months.  We store many items in our climate controlled storage building when we are on the go.  When traveling we find we don't need as many things set up on our patio.  A mat, a couple chairs, a table and lamp pretty much does it.  Living in a smaller RV means we can't carry everything with us each time we set off.  I store our seasonal clothes in tubs and whatever we are not using stays in the storage building.  We rarely carry our Clam with us and we leave our spare chairs as well.  It's a learning curve for sure!!
I noticed this hawk had perched on a tree about 100 feet from our site
APPRECIATION - When we full-timed before I never thought about the luxury of making reservations or plans for travel.  We just decided what or where we wanted to go and planned accordingly.  I took so much for granite.  Having gone through this journey called cancer I now know what a privilege it is to raise those jacks and go!!  I am still waiting for the day when that 6 month visit is no longer on the calendar and plans don't have to be made around it.
Until then I will be grateful for every single trip we take, every person we meet and every memory we make!!

It is with humble appreciation that tomorrow we will take our friend, Marsha Weaver's advice and "lift those jacks and get out there and experience all of God's wonders!!"  Thank you, Marsha, great advice!!
This was taken a few years ago at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge where we volunteered

    1. Linda, thanks for your comments. It is nice to have the freedom to just go somewhere and enjoy different scenery and people. We are at an Escapees Park (full time and part time rv club) and they have dinners twice a week in the clubhouse as well as about 35 different activities during the week for things to do. It is nice and we ate at the clubhouse tonight with friends we met 8 years ago and are catching up on things.
Take care and we hope you have a fantastic weekend.
