Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Join us as this blog is about stopping to see the real beauty around us...to touch and feel it... "Through the Lens".

Moving Day

DSC_3700                                                          Sunset at Our Campground Pine Mountain RV Resort

We finished our time at FDR State Park August 1st but decided to remain a little longer to help the guys out. We have noticed a huge drop in campers over the last couple of weeks.

Two large areas of the campground is now closed until fall.  This past weekend we were about 20% full and by Sunday evening there were NO campers in the campground. Just us and the other campground host in area 5. The only reason they are in area 5 is for security. The electric gates that are supposed to close at 10:00 don’t work. In the past these gates were closed at 10:00 p.m. and opened at 7:00a.m. and the only way you could enter was to use the key code pad.

Mike and I have never felt unsafe in the campground but when it is empty and the gates don’t work you do begin to feel a little weird. We tried to call security once for some weather related reason and nobody ever answered….GREAT!!

The campground host that is taking our place will be arriving in the next few days so we decided to take the manager of Pine Mountain RV Resort up on his offer to work on the website here for a few weeks. He has a few things he wants us to work on and we agreed to help out. The campground is really nice and they are doing more landscaping to enhance the facilities even more. SO TUESDAY WE MOVED…not far mind you but we moved. This is more or less a stopover with perks.

We do not plan on leaving this area until around Labor Day weekend, pending we find a place to park with the Labor Day holiday upon us. Our plans are to head toward the Escapade in Indiana. The Escapade is a huge rally sponsored by the Escapees Club. We plan to meet up with some great friends, meet some new friends and have lots of fun and fellowship.

Hope you are having a great week! Thanks for stopping by and reading our blog. We want to welcome a couple of new “friends” to our readers. We are so glad you found us and hope you enjoy following along.

  1. Well, that sounds like a nice move and didn't cost you much in the way of fuel. Nice pictures. I especially like the picture of the flag. Flags are one of my favorite subjects for pictures! Your plan to go to the Escapade sounds like a lot of fun.

  2. I think being all alone in a large campground would feel a bit creepy now that you mention it. Don't forget, you've got that great wolfhound "Nick" to protect you now!!

    Nice picture of the barn!!

  3. Well you can be proud of doing a great job there at the FDR. Moving day is always exciting, even when you don't go far. Enjoy your time there.

  5. Ah- we had thought about going to Escapade but instead signed for a NOMADS project in NC. Hopefully next one. Would love to find some of the folks we have gotten on know online.

    Be safe in your travels.

  9. Ahhh, all good things must come to an end. Always good to moving once you've sat for a while. I like the idea you have been doing lately of putting random photos in the blog. It adds interest when there can be no photo of the subject at hand.
Enjoying you blog, keep up the great posting.

  10. Hope you at least got the engine warm on the move. I agree that being in a completely empty campground would be a little odd.

  11. Hi Mike and Gerri,

I hate asking a question through your comment board, but I can't seem to figure out how to answer a comment. Would you happen to know how this is done. Any info would be greatly appreciated. I love your site. Pidge
