Sometimes we look at sights in nature but don't really see. While hiking in the woods the other day, it became a realization that we need to open our heart and eyes to see the beauty of the simple things in nature with each season. There is so much order and purpose in His creation. God has given us awesome beauty in this world to see and enjoy... if we would but stop to see and feel it. Lazy Days of Summer

                          DSC_5095

Lazy days of summer!  Without a doubt it has been one of the hottest summers I can remember.  The humidity has been high almost every day which makes it seem all the more hot when you step outside.  It is hard to get motivated to do much of anything except stay inside where it is cool.  We don’t like staying inside!!

Earlier this week it felt like there was a tiny (very tiny) bit of fall in the air.  In actuality it was the absence of humidity I was celebrating.  Whatever it was it sure did feel great!!  It is amazing how a little cool air just lifts your spirits and gives you more energy.

Our dogs have even lost their energy….well, what little they had to begin with.  Eat, sleep, go outside and start all over again.  Needless to say we are all looking forward to FALL!!

We have a trip planned next week!!!  YAY!!  Mike and I will be traveling down to Cedar Key, Florida, that is pending Tropical Storm Irene.  This is a neat little island nestled among many small keys on the Gulf Coast of Florida.  A quiet piece of “old” Florida.  There are several wildlife refuges in the area among many state parks and reserves.  We hope to do some birding and photography and REST!!  After staying put and going through all the medical issues it will feel great to explore again.  We are excited!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

  4. We couldn't agree with you more about being the hottest summer we've ever experienced. Our temps have been hanging in the 100's plus. Today was very pleasant compared to the past two and half months. Our high was only 97. Sandy and I even washed the motorhome. Enjoy your trip to Florida.

  5. I don't know how I missed the picture of the pups all curled up together, but I sure did. Now mine won't usually curl up together like that. Skitz likes to lay on Scooter but Scooter isn't too impressed with that whole idea.

  6. Wish I had a dog that would just eat and sleep! I'm getting a little tired of this wild child...

  7. They look like a pair of cats curled up together. My dogs usually hung out together, but rarely slept in the same bed like that.

  8. Great pictures of the dogs in the bed. we spent a week in Cedar Key end of last year. It is definitely a quiet place.

  9. I don't envy you the hot and humid summer that you've experienced. Our summer was unseasonably cool, but that kind of weather is preferable to me. I hope you have a great time on your trip to Florida!
